Thursday March 8th.....International Women's Day
Kathrine Switzer will always be best known as the woman who challenged the all-male tradition of the Boston Marathon and became the first woman to officially enter and run the event. Her entry created an uproar and worldwide notoriety when a race official tried to forcibly remove her from the competition.
I thought it was only fitting on International Women's Day to pay tribute to such a great woman runner Kathrine Switzer.
Come out and celebrate with a run (or a walk) at 7:00 at Second Cup in Pickering. Of course all of our male running friends are invited to join us too!
Hope to see you there.
